Hey, I'm Joanna.
By day I teach high schoolers how to write interactive fiction and design tabletop games. By night I work on my own short stories set in fictional cyberpunk cities, buried six feet under, or surrounded by Scottish accents.
I recently embarked on a career transition out of tech journalism; from BA to MFA, my former writing professors left a tremendous impact on how I approach my craft, and I want to spend more time focusing on my own creative work and transferring the knowledge I received to the next generation of writers.
Whether on a writing team or at the helm of a classroom, I am at my best when my imagination is free to search for unique and unconventional ways to approach creative writing. I am a child of both technology and the arts, after all, so I'm on the hunt for something narrative-driven and student-centered — immersion at its finest.
I hope we cross paths on my new journey.
